Beat the stress…

•January 31, 2007 • Leave a Comment

It’s only the end of January and I see that many of you are aldreay so stressed at work. The eSquared team together with some help from William Smook have come up with some relief tips:

Stop multitasking. Focus on completing on task at a time. Turn off all the browsers and screens except the ones you need. Draw up a to-do list and smash through it a knife through hot butter, or something. That way you won’t have one, big dreaded task of the day hanging over you with damoclean dread.Exert yourself. Go to gym, go for a run, sprint up 12 flights of stairs or go a couple of rounds of shadow boxing with the boss. It’ll get the oxygenated blood fizzing around in your bloodstream again and you’ll feel like a human being, rather than a drone.Get moving. Every couple of hours, spend a few minutes doing something bizarre. Use a mini cricket set and face the guy in accounts for an over or two.Fire up your face. Many offices have microwave ovens. Put a clean, wet facecloth in yours and nuke it for a few seconds. Don’t scald yourself. Put the cloth over your eyes and sit with your head back for a few seconds. Think of anything but work.Burn some oil. Essential oils can be fantastic at altering your mood, without any risk of being arrested. Try an aromatherapy burner with some pine or sandalwood oil. This is easy if you have your own office, rather than the shared airspace of a cubicle.Get some sun. A few minutes of sunshine can make the whole PowerPoint presentation you just deleted seem less important. Substitute that extra cup of coffee at 11.30am for a few minutes of sunlight and you’ll have a more productive afternoon.Play some music. Whether it’s the ethereal harp sounds of Andreas Vollenweider or bone-crunching Red Hot Chili Peppers, music can alter your mood. Try a CD with the sounds of nature mixed over easy listening classical music. Baroque-era music and ballet can work well too. Nobody said you had to be a musical purist, just a calm and productive. If your colleagues complain, use headphones.

Clear your desk. Start and end each day with a pristine work surface, a perky office plant and a clean coffee mug. It’s good karma.

Hope you are all feeling much much better now and don’t forget that you are always welcome to come chill with a cappuccino at eSquared.

What is a Ronin

•January 27, 2007 • Leave a Comment

A lot of people come in and ask us what a Ronin is (Ronin is one of our labels)

During the Samurai eras in Japan, Samurai were designated to different warlords and masters as bodyguards and soldiers. If their master was slain, the Samurai was destined to wander the land masterless. In these hard times where work was often scarce, these wandering masterless Samurai were called Ronin.

There are many legends about such famous Ronin who wandered the land – some becoming outlaws of ill-repute and others as protectors and defenders of the helpless… many would take almost any job eventually as a Ronin was not held in high esteem. Sometimes a bowl of rice was payment enough…..

Often, many Ronin found themselves in positions as Yojimbo – bodyguards – more often to unsavoury characters than not. But a man’s gotta eat, ya know?

SO NOW YOU KNOW! ;)

Anime Evening …A Great Success!!!

•January 24, 2007 • 1 Comment

The first screening at E2Durban of “Ghost in the Shell” and the first few episodes of “Naruto” was
enjoyed beyond imagination by the loyal members who attended..And the best part is, there’s whole lot more to come…..

Its now a addiction for them and they already booked in advance for next week screening of the follow up series of naruto…
So dont dare to be late to book your place….remember places are limited….

So Whats this craze about Naruto??????
Let me educate you guys…

Naruto is an anime and manga series created by Masashi Kishimoto centered around a loud, hyperactive,
young ninja who is in a constant search for both approval and recognition, and with a great aspiration to become Hokage.
First published as a manga series in Japan by Shueisha in the 43rd issue of Shonen Jump magazine in November 1999,
the Naruto series has risen in popularity exponentially and has since been licensed in the USA
(becoming VIZ Media’s top selling title) and nearly two dozen other countries, with the anime series currently airing in 18 countries.

What It’s All About
Twelve years before the start of the series, a Kyuubi (nine-tailed fox demon) attacked the Hidden Leaf Village.
A swing of one of it’s mighty tails could raise tsunamis and flatten mountains, chaos reigned throughout the village as it killed many people,
until the leader of the Leaf, the Fourth Hokage, defeated it by sacrificing his own life to seal the demon inside a new born child, that child is Uzumaki Naruto.
The Fourth Hokage would forever be celebrated as a hero for sealing the Kyuubi and saving the entire village.
It was his wish that Naruto would also be respected in the same way he would be, however, this was not the case.
Everybody in the village avoided Naruto, regarding him as nothing more than the evil demon fox. The Third Hokage made it a rule
within the village that other villagers were forbidden from mentioning this event to anyone, even their own children,
however because of the way their parents treated Naruto, they mistreated him as well throughout most of his childhood.

Well that’s just the tip of the iceberg of the young ninja called “naruto”….So to know more, make sure you guys book for the anime evenings every Tuesday
night From 19H00 till late…….its just 20bucks guys for 3hours of awesome anime with unlimited cappuccino.
What more can you ask for….

Pondering at eSquared

•January 22, 2007 • Leave a Comment

While chilling on our couch in the E2 Cape Town store this week end some of us started thinking about a few things and thought we’d share them with you. Have you ever considered the following:

Can you cry under water?

Why do you have to ” put your 2 cents in” … but it’s only a “penny for your thoughts” ? where’s the extra penny going to?

How is it that we put a man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why do people say that they “slept like a baby” when babies wake up every 2 hours?

Why are u “in” a movie but you’re “on” TV?

Why do doctors leave the room while you change? They’re going to see you naked anyway.

why is “bra” singular and “panties” plural?

If the professor on Gilligan’s Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why can’t he fix a hole in a boat?

If peanut oil is made from peanuts and vegetable oil is made from vegetable, then what is baby oil made from?

Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle Twinkle little star, have the same tune?

HAHA!   Why did you just start singing the two songs above?  HAHA!

What do you ponder? let us know at seapoint@e2fashion.com ;)
